Walk for Ravenswood, raise money for the arts!

The Third Annual Walk for Ravenswood on May 16, 2012 will be a fun and fit activity for pre-k through 3rd grade students, with all children reaching for their personal goal of 60 minutes. Drinks will be provided, and each student will receive a certificate of participation.

Remember to stay hydrated kids!

The goal of the Walk for Ravenswood is to raise funds for equipment and supplies needed for the music, drama, and art programs. Ravenswood designs curriculum that engages students in experiential learning and critical thinking by bringing the arts directly to the classroom. Students conceptualize, create, and critique projects in Ms. Kitty’s art room studios. Art materials for these resources are in high demand, and continually need to be restocked. Mr. Guidry introduced our full-time dramatic arts curriculum this year and thanks to Mr. Garcia, Mr. Guidry, and many dedicated teachers, our theater program is growing. To continue this momentum, we need to purchase script copyrights, prop inventory, a theater curtain, and  audio and visual equipment.

We’re hoping to make this walk the best ever, so the more contributions we raise, the more successful we’ll be at achieving our goal. Please help us to reach our goal by visiting the event website Walk for Ravenswood and making a donation. Each student participant can register for free with no obligation and create their own webpage. The website will track donations collected by each student and by each classroom.  The classroom with the highest fundraising total through paper and online pledges will win a pizza party for their class!  Let’s do our best to help Ravenswood School. Thank you for your support.

And the Field Day t-shirt contest winner is…

School isn’t all science projects and multiplication tables! It’s also a Field Day full of kindergarteners tossing water balloons back and forth and middle-schoolers battling it out in close-call shuttle runs.

While Ravenswood students get ready to focus on being healthy, active and great team-players, they will also be getting geared up in the official 2012 Field Day t-shirt. This year’s design winner is Joanne M., a primary student whose Field Day drawing stood out among many entries.

Field Day t-shirts are available for sale now for $12.

Congratulations, Joanne M. and many thanks to all the Ravenswood artists who participated.

Who will be the egg-toss champion or kick the most soccer goals? Meet us on the field to find out!
