Dear Ravenswood Families and Friends,
Happy New Year!
We hope you enjoyed time with family and friends during the winter break. I (Mr. Manaen) enjoyed time in frigid Minnesota with my family and I (Mrs. Welsh) did the same with family in Kansas City. Now that we are back, at least one of us is very grateful for the relative warm, balmy weather of Chicago. We are excited for a fantastic 2018 with our students and, although we are technically about midway through this school year, feel as though we get to start fresh with them when they return!
We have a pretty full month and a half in front of us and we want to take this moment to highlight some big events and opportunities we hope to see you at:
Join us for our January LSC meeting this Monday, January 8th in the Multipurpose Room at 6:30. The Local School Council is a group of parents, community members and staff who are charged with hiring the principal as well as overseeing the school’s budget. In addition, the Ravenswood LSC provides guidance and oversight on our school initiatives, policies and fundraising.
The time is near! Now’s the time to form a team with your fellow room parents or community members or bowling league buddies and sign up for our annual dodgeball tournament. Someone needs to unseat those pesky teachers from their current first place lockdown!
Day of Service/First Annual Chili Cook Off
Our annual Ravenswood Day of Service will take place for two hours on Saturday, February 3rd. We are very excited to share that we will kick the morning off (for our early risers) with a pancake breakfast fundraiser for our 8th grade Washington DC trip and end the morning with our first ever RAVENSWOOD CHILI COOK OFF!!! Mark your calendars and prepare to bring the heat, people!
Have a great week, everyone.
Mr. Manaen and Mrs. Welsh
PS- Progress reports go home Monday.
