When: Tuesday, October 9th 8:30am
Where: Waters Elementary 4540 N. Campbell, Case Manager’s Office
This group will act as a support network for parents of students with IEPs, 504s or other diverse learning needs. We’ll support each other, and learn how we’re supported by our school. Meetings will help explain the ins and outs of “special education,” and will be a place for parents to find resources and ideas. But there’s no requirement to have a student with an IEP or 504 – everyone is welcome!
We will be teaming up with other Northside school communities during our first year as much as possible. Meetings dates and topics for the year are still being finalized. If you have any suggestions for discussion topics, please email those to Laura (Miss G), Ravenswood Diverse Learners teacher.
The first meeting of the year will feature Erin Leibman, a special education consultant, who will be talking about strategies and resources for executive functioning skills. It’s a perfect back-to-school topic! Even if you can’t come, check out her website.
The Waters group understands we may arrive late, after our 8:45am drop-off. The meeting will last approximately 1 hour. Small children are welcome, but space is tight, so bring some entertainment.
We hope to see you there!
Please RSVP to Kelli Landes, the Waters parent lead, and be sure to let her know you’re from Ravenswood.
